Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona boasts one of the most unique stories in all of Tuscany. The property’s roots date back to the 17th century, when it was established by Montalcino’s bishop and became the official property of the local diocese. The estate was purchased from the church by Francesco Ciacci in 1877, then was passed down through the family for generations. Upon the death of Countess Ciacci Piccolomini in 1985—who boasted no heirs—the property was willed to Giuseppe Bianchini, her property manager.
Since 2004, the winery has been spearheaded by Giuseppe’s children, Paolo and Lucia, and now spans 40 precious hectares of vines in Montalcino. All farming is done organically, low yields are favored, and a classical style is implemented in the cellar. The resulting wines are expressive, balanced, and reflective of the place from which they come.
